Matchstick Men
Sunday, September 28, 2003
I saw Matchstick Men yesterday. It was pretty good with a great non-cheesy plot twist at the end. I won't say more on it besides my recommendation. I was kicked out of Starbucks within my first thirty seconds there because I wasn't planning on buying anything. That and I asked for chess pieces for the chess-board-like table. Asshats.

Piracy
Wednesday, September 24, 2003
The RIAA Can Take Their Legitimate Business and Shove It. Maybe people would buy music if the price of an album wasn't 40,000% of the cost of the disc itself. Sure, there are the mediocre costs of paying the musicians and the employees that actually do something, but five dollars is definitely a reasonable price for a new CD. I would be more lenient on the industry if the musicians got a real royalties, not just publicity from the release. In the 60s bands would actually write new music and would sometimes release two albums in a year because there was no pressure from the labels. Now the record companies are suing their potential customers. This is capitalism at its worst.

Frisbee Club

The Jedi, in an attempt to regain vitality (and in retaining rights to play on school property,) is becoming a real school-recognized club. Elections for the mandatory and pointless officers of president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary will be held this Friday.

As promised, I updated the template slightly. Interesting? Not really, but what can you do about it?
Titles
Tuesday, September 23, 2003
I added a title to every post, including those from the young and pointless days of my blog. I think I'll eventually use it in a slightly redesigned template. Maybe I'll even do it today.

I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Jones Beach yesterday. I last saw them on May 20, 2003 at Madison Square Garden. It was amazing. I don't know how else to put it—it just has to be experienced to be understood.
The show began with French Toast, a band that consists of two people so they had to keep switching instruments or play multiple instruments simultaneously.
Queens of the Stone Age came on next. This was the third time I saw them and the first time they were on. They played surprisingly well.
The Peppers kicked ass as usual. The didn't play Californication for some reason, but were still awesome. If you haven't seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers live, there is nothing like it and I strongly recommend it.
Memorable Moments (in order of occurence):
- Me: “To get to the front we can be aerodynamic and put Kenny in the front. Andrew can be in the back to push.”
Kenny: “You can be the parachute.”
Sam (five hours later): “Haha! Parachute!” - Random asshat: “French Toast? Who names their band after a food?” He was not at all sarcastic.
Me (to said asshat): “I'm hungry for some Red Hot Chili Peppers!” - Me: “I want to be a roadie.”
Andrew (thinking roadies means groupies): “I want to be in the band and get the roadies.” - Some asshat ran on stage during “Under the Bridge” and started dancing. He was dragged off by security guards that nearly twisted his arms off. The Chili Peppers claimed that it was planned.
- After the concert as we met Danny and his cousin by the flagpole to get the tickets paid for a group gathered around us thinking we were selling drugs.
Holy crap! It was amazing!
Zen? Nope.

Just as a book reminds us of humanity outside of the West, a dog reminds us of life outside humanity.

I was lucky enough that my mind did not dwell on the tragedy of two years ago today. This morning Mrs. Ciulla enumerated graduates of Oceanside High School that were killed, each with a brief eulogy. Aside from that I spared myself and avoided thought about the attacks. I'm numb.
It is hard to believe that it has only been two years—the world has changed so greatly. Any remaing shreds of innocence were lost.
I pay my highest respects to those remembering loved ones lost.
Aargh!

Jackass
Sunday, September 07, 2003
Some jackass named Murky ripped off Maddox. What a jackass. Jackasses don't get much worse than that.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that Murky is Scott Weiss.
School Started

Today was the first day of school. Yay! Summer vacation was fun, but it's good to be back, although I don't look forward happily to the massive amount of homework. My teachers seem pretty cool so far.
