Google Cache Bookmarklet

Thursday, October 21, 2004

Bookmarklets are fun. This one gets Google's cached version of the page you're on. Add it to your bookmarks/links bar:

Google cached

Update: Mozilla users should use the special version.

Special features, besides just sending the URI to Google:

Update: Special for Mozilla Users: If you land on a Net error page, this will determine the originating URL and ask Google for that instead of the chrome://... garbage. You know the drill: Google cache +FL

Make Readable Bookmarklet

Monday, October 11, 2004

Do you ever view the printer friendly format of a web page to get rid of the ads and clutter, just to suffer a long, wide, unstyled pain in the ass to read? I do at the New York Times, so I decided to act on it.

The Bookmarklet: Make readable

Drag that link to your bookmark/links toolbar, hit it when on an ugly page, and watch as the page is automagically made more readable. Your eyes will thank you.

Disclaimer: This does not work in Internet Explorer.

Disclaimer 2: This makes low-style pages like New York Times printer-friendly ones prettier, but will screw up more complex pages. A reload will bring it back to normal.
